Heathrow Airport
Ferrovial Construction was appointed by Heathrow Airport Limited to undertake construction of the Substructure of a below ground baggage facility and a tracked transit system between the terminal 2 (T2) building and terminal 2 satellite building (T2B). The project is located at the heart of Heathrow Airport one of the busiest airports in Europe. In order to complete this project, two 75m jib tower cranes were installed and were part of the Heathrow skyline for more than a year. With 4 tonnes of capacity at their nose and a maximum lifting capacity of 24 tonnes, the tower cranes helped to feed more than 6,800 tonnes of rebar for the roof and base slab construction in an extremely busy, live airport environment without any operational impacts. The Kilo Apron development substructure project is one of the biggest projects carried out at the airport in 2019 and 2020.
